Hello I am new here.
I am here because I was a victim of domestic violence and it has led into PTSD, depression and anxiety. My life hasn't been the same since I suffered through that toxic relationship. I have come a very long way since leaving the toxicity of that relationship and have grown a lot.
My story is...
He was always verbally abusive and very rarely physically abusive. Except the last time, his drunken mind decided that shooting me with an AR15 assault rifle while I was trying to leave his house was the way to keep me there. Unfortunately he was right. The bullet went into my stomach and through my body and came out next to my spinal cord. I bleed out more than 1/2 of my blood supply and flat lined on the trauma table. I was rushed in for emergency surgery and had follow up surgeries. The likelihood for me to survive was low. The surgeons told my family to make living arrangements for my son (whom i shared with my abuser) However, I survived! I had to learn how to walk all over again, and had a few medical set backs. But now I'm for the most part healthy and recovered. My long term medical problems include, one kidney and permanent nerve damage from my left hip down to my left foot. and continuous back problems.
Thanks for listening.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Many of us here are survivors of abuse of all kinds, and while my injury that damaged my right hip and pelvis/spine was a fall, I do understand about having permanent damage to cope with physically atop of psychologically and emotionally. Others here are in similar positions, so you're not alone:-)
Glad to meet you,
Leo
I'd grown up in so much domestic violence I guess I thought it was normal. That's when I got into therapy to find out what normal actually was. I have PTSD from military situations, too, but we understand a broad range of them here from experience. Welcome. Glad you're here.
Again, welcome. Hope you can grow the trust to open up and find healing companionship here.
I have all kinds of nerve damage in my wrists and arms from being held down for 17 hours (won't go into detail) so I understand the level of pain. This time of year especially.
You definitely aren't alone on here. There's a lot of awesome support here. For me personally, I wouldn't be getting as far as I am without the support I'm getting from here.
I have little contact with people who have been in similar situations.
It will feel good just to vent to people who actually understand what you have been feeling emotionally and psychically.
