We are all easily bogged down with all the things ms has robbed us of or does to us. Sometimes we need to look at what it has taught us too.
Few things I can think of to kick it off with are -
Today I was able to go to the Royal Melbourne show (agricultural show with sideshows & showbags food etc). We went by train & I used my scooter. It was a lovely sunny day which I loved as not hot with it. We enjoyed the day out & I was able to spend time with husband & just talk, sit, eat, coffee etc like usual (except on scooter).
I would have taken this for granted before. Now I was grateful that I had a good day, not sick & able to do that.
On the way home there was a mix of scooter/wheelchairs in our carriage - 6 in all. Some of the others were much worse off than me. One couldnt talk or control her actions & screamed if wanted anything - only quiet when eating - LOL but I mean screamed & hit everything including carer if not being fed. Another kept trying to bite her carer everytime she was near enough because she was tired/upset - not able to communicate or move etc.
This made me really appreciate that I can still communicate & control myself (as much as possible).
One lady in an electric wheelchair was chatting happily & then crying uncintrollable & so embarrassed about it, passed her a tissue & she thanked me & tried to apologise, had just lost a friend recently & scared. Didn't ask any further, just said thats ok. her friend (also in w/c) mouthed "thanks" & just said they were tired after big day out.
I know I do "lose it" sometimes but generally not on places like a train so I am thankful I am still at a time that I can control as much as possible but I do have a much better understanding of others with disabilities too & I don't ge upset with someonet screaming for attention, crying etc. This has come home to me with ms & when i have a flare - lose control of that too sometimes (& other times).
I am really thankfull I have a husband who I love & that we work through all the issues & problems as much as we can. He supports me through everything, good & bad. He is my main support which puts a lot of pressure on him, esp when he is struggling with a recent back injury.
I am thankful for the few friends who have stayed around & still keep in touch with me/us.
Have learnt to forgive those that can't handle the way I am & try to move on & realise that some people are there for a reason, season etc (as the poem goes).
I am also thankful that there is medical care available too.

It can be very hard to learn to take it easier & rely on each other too.
It rang so true to me too as I used to be the planner & organised most things, now I rely much more on hubby to do the planning & wont book things for weekends without checking with him so we don't double book or put too much for the same weekend.
By the way I will be off line from March 1-14 as going on a cruise to New Zealand so don't think I am ignoring just wont be checking wmails as it costs lots on a cruise ship.
