We are all easily bogged down with all the things ms has robbed us of or does to us. Sometimes we need to look at what it has taught us too.
Few things I can think of to kick it off with are -
Today I was able to go to the Royal Melbourne show (agricultural show with sideshows & showbags food etc). We went by train & I used my scooter. It was a lovely sunny day which I loved as not hot with it. We enjoyed the day out & I was able to spend time with husband & just talk, sit, eat, coffee etc like usual (except on scooter).
I would have taken this for granted before. Now I was grateful that I had a good day, not sick & able to do that.
On the way home there was a mix of scooter/wheelchairs in our carriage - 6 in all. Some of the others were much worse off than me. One couldnt talk or control her actions & screamed if wanted anything - only quiet when eating - LOL but I mean screamed & hit everything including carer if not being fed. Another kept trying to bite her carer everytime she was near enough because she was tired/upset - not able to communicate or move etc.
This made me really appreciate that I can still communicate & control myself (as much as possible).
One lady in an electric wheelchair was chatting happily & then crying uncintrollable & so embarrassed about it, passed her a tissue & she thanked me & tried to apologise, had just lost a friend recently & scared. Didn't ask any further, just said thats ok. her friend (also in w/c) mouthed "thanks" & just said they were tired after big day out.
I know I do "lose it" sometimes but generally not on places like a train so I am thankful I am still at a time that I can control as much as possible but I do have a much better understanding of others with disabilities too & I don't ge upset with someonet screaming for attention, crying etc. This has come home to me with ms & when i have a flare - lose control of that too sometimes (& other times).
I am really thankfull I have a husband who I love & that we work through all the issues & problems as much as we can. He supports me through everything, good & bad. He is my main support which puts a lot of pressure on him, esp when he is struggling with a recent back injury.
I am thankful for the few friends who have stayed around & still keep in touch with me/us.
Have learnt to forgive those that can't handle the way I am & try to move on & realise that some people are there for a reason, season etc (as the poem goes).
I am also thankful that there is medical care available too.

I am glad that at least the dr's are investigating why My feet are hurting so much all the time. Before ms I would have taken it all for granted.
great sight by the way, just found you
hugs
I am also thankful for this site. There are a lot of different parts of it so something for everyone. Great friends & support here from people who understand what we are going through - even when it is not strictly ms related too.
To laugh when I make a mistake instead of worry about it
to make jokes when i goof up
to be patient with others when they don't understand what I mean *(the words I think won't come out of my mouth a short curcit somewhere)
has taught me how much my Hubby loves me he is still here
It has taught me to keep on fighting for myself (my dx was 23 yrs in coming)
taught me to celebrate the victories
to once again have "dates" with my Hubby when the good days are here
To live in the day not to live in the past or be scared of the future (well most day)
it has taught me to reach out and ask for help
to accept help with personal care
it is not fun but I can now go out and live my life
to do want I can now it may not be as much as before but I am a active functional person
I can't work but I volenteer when I can to help others
It taught me when i help others I am helping myself
it is always good to be reminded of the things ms has taught us & we are all different. We all have learnt a lot from ms, both the same & different. I had a lot of "ah yes" moments reading yours.
Also welcome to this group & I would like to welcome all the others that have joined recently too. Please feel welcome to post too. All of our thoughts, feelings etc are different & always valued on here.
I have found I tend to say to people worrying about little things or silly things is "build a bridge & get over it" generally no one has an answer to it & it stops them in their tracks. I use that to remind myself too.
Please keep sharing positive things that work for everyone.
Take care, & always believe in yourself
