Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

weird question- tongue issues

anyone else have a tongue that bleeds with this? Mine is dry at times, but not bad.. not anything I'd really even think to mention.. but it is sore.. it's sore most of the time and it will bleed when I brush it everytime (it has for 2 years).. It makes me wonder if this is how all my muscles are - just sore tender weak and friable (easy to bleed)..

Sjogrens can cause very dry mouth and eyes, I don't have that but at times i had trouble getting food to move from my mouth down my thorat, and get chewing fatigue...

I agree maybe it is thrush with yeast and could use some medicine...

I have had dry mouth, which made it difficult to speak and get food ready to swallow. Lupus also can cause dry mouth and dental issues, and it can overlap with Sjogrens. Hi bny806. There is a wonderful med available by prescription called, NeutraSal. 1-877-460-4611 by Invado Pharmaceuticals. NeutraSal helps with extremely dry mouth and restores saliva Ph.

I agree with everyone on the importance of dental care. I see the dentist four times a year. It is also easy to get infections with DM/PM. Do talk to the doctor about the bleeding tongue.

Thanks yall!! It doesn't appear like thrush .. and my mouth has been dry.. but the weird thing is it seems like the tongue is dry, but the rest of the mouth isnt' that bad... I only choke from dryness every once in a while

My sjogrens marker was technically positive (it was a scale of 1-1.9) and it was 2...so I got a diagnosis of that at one point, but then they thought maybe not, as my dryness doesn't seem that severe - but who knows!
Oh man - i need to get to the dentist! I have never had a cavity.. but I have one or two now- i just hate going so much - never had any issues and I hate to have any now... just another thing to add to the list!

My ANA is always positive (it was 1:640, or 1:800ish) can't remember.. but up there.. This Rash I am having is new and weird

My dr's just shake their heads and say "huh" when I show them my tongue.. it does look smoother than it should - and I have GI issues, but vitamin B levels are always high.... who knows!!!!
