Just as another point of reference, my rheumy has me dropping by 1mg a month, from 10mg down, and I've actually been doing it by half steps. 9 1/2 for 2 weeks and then 9 for 2 weeks, and then 8 1/2 for 2 weeks, etc.
When I was at 15mg for a month, my next step was 10 for a month. I also changed that to 15mg for 2 weeks, 12 1/2 for 2 weeks, and then 10.
With lots of people reporting touchy situations at the low doses of Prednisone, I figured it's a good idea to ease it on down.
Good luck and continued great results!!!
Again, congrats on your great news.
do you think trying 5 for a few days would be too risky? i will recognize how i "usually" feel on a taper, but i feel like i won't know how long i need to push through it or if it's too much of a decrease...if that makes sense. i'll let you all know what the doc says! thanks again soo much!!
I am at 5.5mg of prednisone. I will be seeing the endocrinologist to see if I will be able to taper anymore.
Congratulations on getting married! Best wishes on many years of a fun and prosperous future. Keep us posted on your taper.
i called the doctor yesterday and left a message asking him to confirm the taper...since i haven't heard back yet (ugh) i just went down to 10mg yesterday and today...guess i'll stick with 10 until i hear back. feeling the normal effects of a taper, super tired and a little achy. so far so good. thanks everyone! i'll let you know what the doc says!
