I have a sore tongue/mouth every once in a while. I don't get any advanced warning, it just all feels sensitive and sore suddenly. I think it might be stress related; I'm also allergic to olive oil and garlic. So if I make a mistake and eat either of those, my mouth flares. Also, since I've begun taking steroids for my PM, my teeth have become slightly sensitive. I had to switch to sensitive toothpaste, and it helps soothe my mouth/teeth a bit. Swishing with mild Listerine also helps whenever my mouth is sour.

ARe you on Methotrexate?? do you need Folic acid to counter that??
I find the nightshades give me trouble and any artificial colors and my tongue will go wacky..
Good luck, but you need to let your doctor know. I keep an epi pen with me at all times, and have had to use it...
Sending you the best, Shawna
I have a sensitivity and sore feelings sometimes in the roof of my mouth. I do not know if it is a side effect of meds. I will gargle with Listerine and it helps a little.
Good luck and keep us posted!
I just got my positive diagnosis about 1wk ago but have had crazy symptoms for a few years. All of which I have discovered fit with this disease. I too get a very sore & coated looking tongue. I also get very sore little bumps on the end of my tongue. Along with that I will get 4 or 5 canker sores at a time. When I get them, I will get about 4 or 5 at a time and then they go away for awhile. Then as usual come back. I recently had about 5. I never know when I'm going to get or how many. I just had one the size of a pea on the roof of my mouth and often get them in my throat. I don't get the swelling though so you should probably talk to your dr. I feel for you!! I makes it hard to eat or even drink sometimes. My dr. said to brush my tongue and swish Listerine in my mouth. Can't say it helped tremendously, basically had to wait it out. Hope yours gets better..
