Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group
Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.
I am thinking that if you have some recent weight gain and dehydration then that might cause stretch marks.
I know DM is a collagen vascular disease. A lack of collagen in the thigh area may also be the culprit for stretch marks. A lack of collagen may also cause wrinkles.
I have the opposite problem of cellulite legs. Before DM, I had pretty, well supported skin. I used to weigh 98 lbs. Today I weigh 124 lbs. My under arms, thighs, and knees have flab & cellulite. My stomach is big, firm, and it sometimes hurts to eat. I am at the point where I do not care about what I look like in a swimsuit. I'm 50 and not running for Miss USA. I would win Miss Woof Woof!
I hope maybe some others on this site may be able to think of what could be the cause of stretch marks. Be careful of pricey products that claim to remove stretch marks. A dermatologist would be the best source for any product.
@trpt1
Sorry, but I think you would have to take a runners-up position, because I think I would win that "Miss Woof Woof" contest you mentioned. LOL
Sorry, shawna
I am really hard on myself but I ask that we all try to accept ourselves and try to avoid negative self talk. Remember we are fighting a serious illness. Our bodies are doing their best for us.
