Hello friends, You will not believe this but after my fall a few weeks ago, I started going further downhill. I was having a lot of pain and not feeling quite right.. When I got off work each day, all I could do was drag myself to bed. If it wasn't for my son cooking my dinner, I probably wouldn't have eaten anything and even then I wouldn't always make myself eat. I even told my daughter that I felt my left leg was getting shorter than my right leg and I was walking on the tips of my toes on my left foot. I knew that I had injured the left knee and thought that was the problem. I woke up on Tues, 10/15 and couldn't move from my waist down and the pain was unbearable. I couldn't turn over or anything. I called my rhuemy and was told to take an addt 40 mgs of prednisone to go with the 10 that I had taken earlier and if it different help to call him back. I fell asleep and when I woke I called him again and was told to go to the hospital as he didn't know what was happeing. I hate going to Tampa General's ER. It is the worst and that night everyone who didn;t have a doctor went in and stated they had chest pains, I had to go by ambulance and was not evaluated for 3 1/2 hrs, then was taken to a room and stayed there for approx 6hrs or more before I was taken for a CT scan and MRI. I was told that my tail bone or whatever they call it was swollen otherwise they had no idea why I could not move and was in so much pain. It started at my tailbone and shot down to the bottom of my feet. I couldn't sit up, turn over or anything. I was admitted to the hospital and again was seen by numerous doctors from multiple speciialties who were just as confused.. On Tues 10/22 or so I was given an MRI of my thighs to determine if it was truly the PM that was causing the problem as now rheumies didn't think I truly had PM. This after 2 1/2 hrs of treatment,. It was found that the fall caused me to have multiple smal fractures in both thighs and my pelvis area and they thought the ortho surgeon would do surgery but he decided to send me to a skilled nursing facility for rehab instead and I have been here since 10/25. I am getting OT and PT. The pain is awful, but I am "pushing" thru it. My legs are getting stronger each day, but I do have a long way to go still and I am willing to do whatever it takes. I have been told that I will need to have another muscle biopsy once I leave here, plus other test to determine if I do have PM or something else as my symptoms are not matching PM. I am staying positive and know that I am in the best place for me right now and getting the therapy and care that I need. If I was at home, I wouldn't be following thru as I am here. As alwas I am asking for your prayers. The facility has a publice computer and this has been my first time using it and I wanted to let you all know what was happening with me. I pray that you all are doing better each day. There may be misspellings, but I can barely see well enough to proofread, so I hope that you all will forgive me, plus I am in a public room and have gas something awful and some people are coming in to watch TV, so I am going to log off. Goodnight friends.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I am wondering why the doctors would tell you PM and then turn around and doubt the diagnosis? I guess the issue now is whether the meds you are taking are actually appropriate. If you do have something that is autoimmune, then most of these illnesses use the same meds anyway.
I am sorry to hear about the fractures. I now have severe osteoporosis and I must watch out for fractures too. I hope that you will heal up soon.
Brenda, you have a great attitude for all that you are experiencing.
I Pet 5:7 "Casting all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you." Remember that God loves you, and He wants you and all of us to rest in Him.
Keep us posted.
I pray you continue to have the strength to keep pushing through and figure out what is wrong so you can get help and feel better.
All the best to you, shawna
