I'm sorry that you are still experiencing so much pain, Brenda. I do understand, as I used to have chronic pain. The turning point for me came when my new doctor discovered my problem with chronic Epstein-Barr Virus. She recommended a supplement called Lauricidin and explained how to take it. After 3 weeks, I noticed that I felt different. And it seemed like every 3 weeks for months, things would improve. The supplement said that optimal results would come within 3-6 months. Lauricidin has helped keep the EBV in check, but the wonderful side effect was that my pain levels noticeably improved and became tolerable. The only thing now that can override that and cause pain are gluten or artificial sweeteners (even 4 oz. of diet soda causes bad pain). I can still remember how discouraging and unbearable those days were. The pain would sometimes bring me to tears. I feel really bad for you and will pray that you can quickly find the solution to your pain.

I find "standard" pain medications don't really work on our type of pain. Sure they make us tired and maybe fall asleep but the pain remains. I also worry about addiction to narcotics.

I believe we need a different kind of pain pill that works on nerve pain. I haven't had the type of pain that requires steady medication (thank goodness) so I don't know any names that worked for me however, I would ask about nerve pain medications. It might also be helpful to check out a pain clinic for chronic pain sufferers.

Hi Brenda. I agree with Nanny & Lexi. I will pray that you find the right meds. If the meds you are taking does not seem to work after some time, then do try something else. The neurologist would be the doctor to see if the pain is terrible. If it is nerve pain, then that is in the brain. You might have an overlap disease if it is nerve pain.

I would also check Drugs.com and look up your current meds. Read the "professional" section for side effects on your meds on Drugs.com. You may be experiencing a rare side effect of your meds if you have been on them for years. It could be your current meds are causing the nerve pains and it is time to find new meds.

I use fentanyl patches and they work very well for me. If I have days that I'm in extra pain I also use the standard paracetomol, or something with codeine in it. My doctor said I ws allowed to use that as I needed it and I can do tit every 4 hrs. With the paracetomol if i take it every 4 hrs it keeps the pain away and under control. With the patch I know when it is running out becuse bynthe end of ghe 72hrs i can feel the pain. I have been on fentanyl for a year and a half now, when I was in hospital I was having injections for the pain. I was on very high doses. My advice to you is to do what you need to do to get your pain Under control to be able to live a happier life. Nobody lives in your body but you. We are all different and have different reactions to medications, if it's not working then find something that does. I personally don't function very well when I'm in pain and it makes me grumpy and depressed. xo
