Hi, Ricky23, and welcome to this group of nice people. I have PM, with overlapping DM and Lupus. So sorry to read of your rash and prior cancer. I will say a prayer for you about this matter, because I'm sure it is emotionally draining for you. A couple of questions --
1) Have you tried coconut oil on your rash?
2) Has your doctor ever tested your vitamin d levels?
3) Could you possibly have food allergies?

As difficult as it might be, try not to diagnose yourself. There are many reasons for myositis and/or lupus rashes, and it's not always cancer. When you see your doctor, please let us know what s/he says. I'm so glad you found this site. Feel free to vent or express your emotions here anytime. We are here for you. Welcome Ricky23, please try not to worry so much - I know its easier said than done - I have had DM since Feb 2013 and on Predisone, Plaquenil and now just started MTX. Are you sure it is DM? there could be something you have missed that is not so serious. With my DM I had the rash on one eyelid and my chest. The Plaquenil cleared it up after about 4 months. There are some really good meds out there although none of us want to take them but it helps give a better quality of life.Good luck with your appointment.

Hi Ricky, I am sure the doctor will figure out the rashes and the causes. You should think positive and have some confidence that the doctors will be able to treat your health issues. I will send some prayers for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. Do consider Nanny's recommendations too. We are here for you.

Hi! My husband had the same thing- he has DM. He went to several dermatologist and they all did the same thing... but some cream on it. Never helped him. THen finally, we went to the best dermatologist ever.... she told us that with DM... your skin is the first thing your body lets go so it can focus its energy on fighting the disease(like protecting your organs) so your skin picks up everything. My husband had the DM rash of course but he also got ate up with ringworn. I mean it was all over him-scalp, butt, legs, groin everywhere! No one else even thougt of that! His immune system was so weak, that his skin could not fight the ringworm and it was literally eating his sikin. Once she got that treated with oral medication, it was like night and day, she gave him something called epicream that helped but the nutrients back in his skin the disease takes away and his skin is so smooth and soft now! Major difference! I am soo sorry that this has happened to you, but know, that I truly understand how you feel, my husband never left the house. I think you just need to find the right doctor that will listen, it took us 3 dermatologist before we found Dr. Fridlington in Round Rock, TX, she is the best!!! Good Luck!

Ricky, there is a cancer associated Dermatomyositis, it is likely that. I would demand a full cancer re-workup and fast transfer to Dr. Cooper the big specialist at London for Myositis.
There is a group on Face Book called Myositis ramblers. There are a number of folks there from the UK and they all see Dr. Cooper in London i believe. He is the one that can do Myositis antibodies. Some of the antibodies are more linked to cancer, but all of us get a good cancer screen when diagnosed. Wishing you all the best, Shawna DM, and a nurse...
