Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

You are not alone... As you taper the meds it gets easier. If you are really feeling crazy ask for Medrol. it makes a big difference for me. It is a different steroid and does the same job, but crosses the blood brain barrier differently. On prednisone i can't even drive and on medrol i am happy and good to go!!! Let youdoctor know it is a problem for you and see what they say.
For me after 2 or 3 weeks at a dose my body gets more used to it and i find i am better at functioning. Lots of lists and memos to myself. The phone alarm is good too.

I know everyone on this site knows about medication side effects and complications of the brain with this disease.
I guess we just press forward, smile, and do our best.
And yes, I forget my food on the stove. I forget what I was planning to cook and so many other things.
