It's possible that you're other muscles are hurting because they're being over-/mis-used to compensate for your weak thigh muscles. This was puzzling to me at first, too. Take care,

It might not hurt to ask your doctor for some supervised physical therapy. They can assess your gait and help you modify to ease some of your discomfort.

Brenda, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having problems with your lower legs. Physical therapy may be the best, but in the meantime some stretching exercises, even while in bed may help with some of the stiffness. Blessings, Kim

I was just telling my daughter last night that I believe that it is my thighs that are stiff and not my lower legs. Since my thighs hurt so bad and do not bend, it feels as if it is lower legs. I am looking into a place where I can do some water exercise. I was given a RX for PT but I can't afford the copays at this time with the amount that I am spending on meds each month. My daughter is working on stretching my legs. In fact she was trying to get me down on the floor last night and I had to laugh at the fact that I may not be able to get back up.

I know for certain that my left leg is making up for the muscle biopsy that was taken from the right leg. There is no other reason for it to hurt as much as the right leg. They both hurt even when I am sitting down. They hurt in the exact same area of the thigh. I call it sympathy pain and the left leg needs to get over it. Righty can cause enough pain on her own.

Have you mentioned this to your doctor(s)? Before my diagnosis I had the "Frankenstein" walk that others have described on this site. But once the prednisone kicked in, my walking improved and my legs limbered up. I will pray that you can "get back on your feet" (literally).

I am going to schedule an appt with my neurologist since the stiffness seems yo be getting worst. I am taking less pain meds and just restarted the Cellcept, but cannot figure out why the stiffness is worst. Frankie and I could be related at this time.

I have to same problem. I have to lift my legs to move them sometimes. Pain etc. but some weeks they feel stronger than others. The pain seems to sometimes cycle with strength and my CK readings reflect the inflammation. I feel like a combination between an injured duck and Frankenstein as someone else put it. lol

I was surprised that my CK test came back normal. I also lift my legs with my hands, especially when I am getting in and out of the car. They feel so heavy.

I am with Brendacay my CTs show normal range as well and my doctor does his things by so called pushing down on my legs to test strength but he doesnt put pressure or anything he just makes a sound like he is lol....but we know our bodies, i don't care what the test results says or the doc there is still something going on with my muscles. they are still weak and heavy and get tired...i have been having some swelling in my legs and my joints kill me..i am in pain all the time, but have not been put on pain meds.....my skin hurts so bad to the point that if you barely touch my skin it feels as if someone is taking a knife and slicing me open. I just don't know what to do anymore
