Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group

Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

I don't want to go into a full-scale rant, but I just wanted to complain SOMEWHERE. I hate this I hate this I hate this I hate this I want to lie on the floor and just cry but I'm afraid I won't be able to get back up... it would be funny if it weren't so sad! haha

Go ahead and let it out...but do it on the couch or bed so you can get up okay. :-P We all have those times that it is overwhelming. I think that is natural. Hang in there and let us know how we can help.

Don't ever feel bad coming here to "rant." We all understand and want to be supportive of you. At best, life is frustrating for all of us. At worst, one does want to lie down and cry. But as Lexis has said, do it on the couch or bed, so that you can get back up. Of course, I wouldn't even be able to get down on the floor if I tried, let alone back up. :-)

I have fussed and rant here and what I have gotten in return are hugs and support. So rant, yell and fuss we are all here to provide the support, just dont except us to get on the floor with you.

No one understands you better then we do. Where else can you rant and cry and laugh at the same time and have (almost) total strangers cry and laugh with you. We will pick you up off the floor also... figuratively, that is.

thank you so much everyone for being there... it's been a rough couple days. or a rough couple years, i guess it's relative!

but i think my thyroid is going NUTS, and it's making my pm even more difficult. i've been reading lately that cpk's and serum t3, t4 are inversely related. my cpks were 11,000 the other day, they are 8,000 now, and my thyroid is very low. ahh body what are you doing?

Here - this will make you laugh - today I was at the doctor's office (first time I met this particular doctor - transplant consult), and we were talking about muscle weakness and I said mine was pretty much under control except my legs in that if I ever fell to the floor it would be like that commercial, "I've fallen and I can't get up". He says to me, "Is that because of your disease or your weight?" I resisted the urge to stick out my tongue and said, "No, I could get up off the floor before I got this disease".
