Polymyositis & Dermatomyositis Support Group

Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

Hey everyone. Just finishing up probably my 4th "all-nighter" while I prepare for finals and my senior thesis. Now I clearly see how important sleep is..... ahhhhhh never do this!!! Being sick and being a college student isn't working for me anymore, hahaha

I give you credit! I had to leave my program at school, and after a 2 and a half year wait to get into it and 6months in to the 2 years!! It was very physical and I had the disease onset quickly.

Good luck on your finals and try to get some sleep!!!

Hats off to you Okapi. I finished my bachelors degree while I was in chemo. It was one of the hardest things I had to do. I didn't have to do a thesis. I can't imagine. You will do well though and you will be so glad you stuck with it. Try to find some time to rest among the studies.

You can do it!!!! I love learning and even though I suffer from memory loss at times, I am looking forward to enrolling in at least one course this fall. Let us know how you do on your finals.

yes, don't give up! I pray for patience and endurance for you! i don't think being sick works for anyone, but its what you make of it and MY MY MY YOU ARE STRONG!!! You can't quit now! i'm sure you won't though :) I'm hoping and praying for the best for you!!!

Take care of yourself and plan ahead. I remember college with a lot of fondness. Best wishes on finding a job when your graduate too. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the support everyone! FInals are over, and now I can finally relax and sleep sleep sleep!

I just need to take a PE class to graduate... hahaha how interesting...

Hmm maybe! I go to a really big university with a lot of resources. I am supposed to register with Disability Services and they will help me choose a PE I can do. Everyone asks me "Why don't you just try and get an exemption?" but I think it's a good opportunity to get some instruction from someone who knows about fitness.
