Sending you healing light, shawna
I agree with Shawna that a PT might be able to help. Depending on the type of pain, Ice could help lots but sometimes heat is good but not right after a fall as heat would make it even worse. When I've strained muscles, the PT has helped me significantly. They have moist heat that is wonderful. Also subtle stretches and movement can help loosen the muscle if that is what it is. I suspect you have some bruising from landing or twisting when you feel. Right? Or is it pain since your fall from perhaps being immobile or over compensating for other injuries?
Regardless, I hope you find something to help and you are feeling better very soon.
If you have a wheel chair, then this might be the best way to get across the room. I would only use the chair if you fear your legs will give out.
I agree with everyone that physical therapy might help, provided that the problem is not nerves giving out.
You continue to be in my prayers. Keep us posted.
Whenever I fell and broke my leg at the knee in 2009, I had to go to a Physical Therapist after surgery to keep my knee limber, because I wasn't permitted to put weight on that knee for almost 6 months. I agree that a Physical Therapist might be a good thought. I remember that I could only sit for so long, and then I had to lie down. Also, I used a green lotion made of menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, and wintergreen oil. A friend of mine who lives in constant pain uses this all the time, and he gave me a bottle. It was great for muscle pain and really helped during those 6 months. However, he purchased it from an Amish store in Ohio, where he lived at the time, but I don't know how to get more. Maybe your pharmacist could compound something similar for you. Another product that I used was Stop Pain, which you can get from Walmart or Walgreen's (probably other places as well). Take care, Brenda. We are all pulling for you.
I keep making plans for the future which do not include being sidelined by this disease. It has been over two years since I was diagnosed and a year ago I was walking across the street to buy things for my granddaughter who I was babysitting for a couple of days. I can't believe that now I can barely care for myself and I don't like it at all and will fight this before I will allow it to take over my life.
I was reading my newspaper, which I love to do and came across some articles regarding the Tampa Bay Reading Festival. I remembered going to it in 1996 with my daughter and told her that I want to go this year. There will be famous and not so famous authors there. Some will offer book readings and there will be books to purchase, I love to read and my pain meds or this disease has interferred with my ability to read and I am taking it back. I was thinking about how much better I was before I started the IVIG and other treatments and I am going back to just my basic treatments.
I do feel that my body has built up a tolerance to the Opana pain meds that I am on, but I am not going to a higher dosage. Nanny1611, I am going to see if I can find some of that green lotion that you mentioned. There is an Amish store that sells products at the farmer's market in St Pete I believe and I am going to contact them. Thank you so much for my needed prayers. It hurts my heart when I can't sign on to see how everyone is doing. I have faith and I feel really good mentally right now. I look forward to being able to read and retain what I do read. I also am praying that I can take at least one college course. I refuse to give up. I am dreaming of buying a house soon and to do that I have to continue to be able to earn an income. I am going to climb this mountain.
Will raise you up in Prayer.. Shawna
Hope you get better soon.
I agree with you on going back to basic treatments. It is important to figure out what meds are necessary and what meds may be counter productive. A healthy diet also helps with feeling better.
You have a great attitude about pushing forward! Continue to trust The Lord and He will direct you.
You are in my prayers. Keep us posted.
Good luck with getting the PT. I hope they can get you in soon.
