Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

so...got the results of my stomach/abdominal ct back today. i have an enlarged ovary. so now i have to call my gynecologist tomorrow to have this checked out.

this probably concerns me the most of anything because i know there is a link between dm and ovarian cancer. i also know dm can occur from an undiagnosed cancer. my mother has had breast and lung cancer in the past two years and a cousin has ovarian cancer.

i just find all that they have been finding recently way too much of a coincidence. kidney stones, dm, gallbladder disease, and now an enlarged ovary???

i just dont know what to think about any of it at this point.

Hi Angie - I'm sorry you are going through all of this - it is very stressful and frustrating. I have you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am glad that you are getting the diagnostic tests and all I can say is take it one day at a time. I am glad that you are going to the OBGYN tomorrow - let us know how it goes. I know you are going through a rough patch, but I am so glad you are checking it all out. So glad you had the scan and that you had it sooner.

I guess it is good that you are getting answers and are able to move forward and make healthy choices for yourself. It's better than living in the dark with no clue what is going on. Hopefully this will be all there is that's wrong. Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful day!

I will say a prayer for you, Angie. Please let us know what you find out tomorrow. Just remember, as me3mae has said, it is better to know what's going on. I always tell people that it's better to know "what is" than to wonder about "what if."

Angie, I am sorry to hear about the enlarged ovary. I hope that you will get good news from the doctors. Always remember that there is a purpose for everything even if it is not a good diagnosis. I know that the Lord has a plan for everything and maybe the door will open for excellent care that will help your DM and the enlarged ovary. I hope this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Don't worry, thank God for the problem, and look forward to where he will lead you. Good Luck
