I found an extremely informative guide that teaches about ovaries, cysts, PCOS, etc. I also learned there is a difference between having a polycystic-appearing ovary and actually having polycystic ovarian syndrome. Hope this helps, ladies... Please visit:

sweet ty i really find it odd that depending on what dr you ask what the statistics are for how many women have pcos and whatever else accossiated with pcos... i wish they would all just get together and make up their minds. I do suppose it depends on how old of a study or text they are refering to ...
ive noticed the older the text/study
the lower the % number and personal opinion also weighs heavy into it as well.

I was told there is a difference and then I was not. It is like a difference in opinion by doctors and stuff and different websites. I guess I am confused on thi s really.

I'm not positive, but I think it means you can have multiple cysts on your ovaries without actually having the syndrome. The syndrome involves your endocrine system and some other things (like insulin problems). Just having cysts on your ovaries doesn't necessarily mean you have the whole syndrome. This is just what I have gathered so far, but I'm still doing research. :) I too wish doctors would make up their minds so that we ladies can get well!
