Hey all! I was diagnosed with PCOS last winter after having it since I was a yound teen, I believe. I am 28 now. I was put on a very low dose of Metformin (500mg once a day) and it did nothing but make me sick, and actually miss my period (was supposed to make me more regular obviously). SO, I have an apointment on the 27th and I was thinking of requesting to be put on birth control. I have been told that it can lessen the cysts and symptoms of PCOS, and regulate my periods. I know this means I will have to wait longer to try to get pregnant again, but I am thinking in the long run it will make me healthier for when I eventually do conceive. I was just wondering how many of you have taken birth control for the same reasons, what results you got, and what kinds of birth control you were put on. Side note: When I got all of my blood tests done, my testosterone, sugar, all other hormones were perfect... ovaries normal size, everything looked great other than the cysts, missing periods, facial hair and gaining weight... so I am thinking the birth control alone may help? I'm new to this, so any info would help. Thanks ladies!
