Switching from Clomid to Femara fertility drugs

My gynecologist had me on Clomid for a year, I was on 100mg & that dose got my periods to come back on there own. But I wasn't getting pregnant on it, so my gynecologist wanted to switch me to the Femara fertility drug. She went ahead & put me on the second higher dose 2.5mg of Femara I think because I was responding to the 100mg of Clomid. And she wanted to start me out with a little higher dosage of Femara I'm thinking so that I would be more likely to respond to it & be able to get pregnant on it sooner. She also has me on 500mg of Metformin, so I'm really hoping & praying that with switching from Clomid to Femara, that it'll make a bigger difference & I'll be getting pregnant on it. So what I want to know from you ladies, have any of you switched from Clomid to Femara & did you notice a difference between the two fertility drugs? Did Femara actually work better for you & allow you to get pregnant, compared to Clomid? My doctor agree's that Femara can be as affective & get you pregnant like Clomid does. I do have PCOS so of course I have to be on fertility drugs. So what are your stories & did it work better to switch from Clomid to Femara for you? I wish all of you good luck & I hope it all works out for you.

I just wanted to wish you good luck. This is my first month on Femara, I was on Clomid 2 years ago for several months up to 200mg a day. I will tell you Femara is much nicer, I didn't have the crazy side effects (aside from some dizziness). My hubby and I are doing our first IUI with Femara and a trigger shot. I go in tomorrow for day 12 u/s to see how my follies are doing. One thing I will say is to make sure your dr is doing ultrasounds during your cycles. My ob was not while I was on clomid and I felt like I wasted my time and money. My RE is much more thorough. I'll let you know how I respond to the Femara after my u/s tomorrow. I have heard of several success stories with femara, including a college friend that now has twins!

I just picked up my rx for Femara yesterday after trying several failed attempts with Clomid. I am also taking injections of Bravelle. I go wednesday to have my follicle study so am praying for good results! My dr told me that women with PCOS respond a lot slower to Clomid so he is hopeful that high doses of Femara and Bravelle will do the truck. Good luck to you!! I hope you respond better to Femara!

I am surprised you were on Clomid for so long. My RE told me generally after 6 months if it hasn't worked it's time to move on. I did switch to Femara at some point while ttc, but I also used it in conjunction with injectibles. I did get pregnant eventually from this combination. My RE told me that the Femara tends to pull out the best eggs for fertilization. Good luck!

How long did it take you to get pregnant after you switched?

Everyone is different. I have endometriosis also. Once I had laproscopic surgery to remove it, I was able to get pregnant with my first cycle after the surgery. I also did IUI with the Femara.

I want to wish you good luck also....I was suppose to start Femara after a long time use of clomid but my RE switched me to 2000 mg of Metformin 1st for 8 wks and we were supposed to start using Femara but we got pregnant in 2 months just on Metformin. I did a lot of research on Femara and the side effects of the Femara were a lot better than the clomid. I had every horrible sife effect that Clomid has to offer.
