Hey!! I was diagnosed back in 2012, and I was feeling the same way as you do. No one around me understood PCOS so they didn't know how to help me emotionally. I kind of went through it alone. I knew I wasn't ready to have to children, but the thought of not being able to conceive naturally devastated me. I came to this site hoping to get advice, and for the most part I got what I was looking for. There are so many women with PCOS that eventually conceive, but I think that everyone is different. Some women conceive right away, while others take a little while. I'm sure there are plenty of women on here that successful concieved that could offer better advice in that area than I can. I do recall many women talking about a medication called Clomid that helps with ovulation. Currently I take Metformin 500 mgs twice a day. I also take Provera every month in order to get a period. (If not I will go almost a year without it)

I will admit, living with PCOS is a struggle at times, but it's not a death sentence. There are times where I too get depressed, and it's almost impossible to get out of bed, but I know now that feeling will eventually pass. What makes me feel better is taking to people who understand my situation and who can bitch about the same things I bitch about and vent about the things that I can relate to. This is only the beginning of your journey, and I think that in time things will get easier.

Also, make sure that you have a good doctor who really takes the time to listen to and address your concerns. Also make sure that they check your B-12 levels because I've been reading that taking Metformin over a long period of time can deplete your B-12. Metformin can cause some issues with your B12 and folic acid so have it checked if you begin to feel exhausted all the time and start having issues with cognition and memory. Folic acid is important to the brain. I have been on it for years and now take supplements. As for fertility, everyone is different. My diagnosis of pcos was late so I am fully diabetic now so watch your blood sugar even if the doctors don't. I would recommend having testing to determine your ovulation cycles and determine if you are ready to have a child now or later. I have had other health issues so when I decided to have kids it was when they told me now or never. Don't let it take you down. Fight back and find what works for your life and body.

Hi! I'm on metformin. I take 500mg two times daily. It causes me some bad belly upset.. it helps your cells absorb the hormone insulin so your cells can break down the sugars instead of storing them as fat aroundbyour mid section.. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 22 I'm 25 now. But I've known there was something wrong since puberty. It can really make you feel like your not a women like your a freak show. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for two years. But I also have some other fertility issues. My advice to you would be see a good gyn one that takes interest in PCOS. Ask all the questions you can. If you are actively trying to have a child tell your dr and have them do all the test. And ultrasounds. That's how they found my other issues. Believe me I know just how lonely of a feeling this is.. and the guilt and insecurity that goes into it. But we women are here to support one another!

Googoodollsgirl, I know it has been a while since you have posted this, I hope you have made some progress with you PCOS.
I am 46 years old, I was diagnosed when I was 44 only because my oldest daughter was diagnosed with it a few years prior while she was struggling to conceive. She finally conceived... she thought a miracle has happened, she lost the baby 2 months into the pregnancy. About a year later she conceived again and again very bumpy road throughout her pregnancy she had a health girl.
My second daughter had the same happen to her, she had a miscarriage a couple months in, but is pregnant again due in June.

So I am telling you there is hope, I have PCOS and 3 daughter, it looks like all 3 might have PCOS too, and PCOS runs a greater chance of a miscarriage, they both wished they had known before.

Ask you doctor for a full check up and cross reference any of the other conditions that coincide with PCOS because there could be other factors that haven't been considered yet.
