Should I or should I not stop Metformin?

So I have PCOS. I've been on Metformin a few months now 500 2x's a day. I'm not insulin resistant, but was prescribed it cause of TTC. I finished my 2nd month of clomid and found out on 9dpo that I am expecting :DDD. My betas are really good on 9dpo it was a 13 and I went back and repeated it today (12dpo) and it was a 67! So the Dr. says it looks great. Also my cd21 progesterone results came back as a 15.2 which was also good. My doctor informed me today to stop taking my Metformin. I don't know if I want to or not cause I thought Metformin helped to prevent m/c, and I had a m/c over a year ago, so I'm very cautious about that. I really want to know the pros and cons of taking Metformin while pregnant. I would at least like to take it the first trimester till I get past the risky months. What do you guys think???

I too am wondering the same thing I am 5 weeks on Monday and to conceive my dh and I had to do ivf. So I am on metformin too not because I'm insulin resistant but because of TTc. I am also on progesterone in oil shots until I'm 12 weeks, but they might have me stop the metformin at my 8 week u/s. let me know if u find out anything!

I am not pregnant, and not trying to become pregnant, yet not avoiding it either. At any rate, last month I did talk to my doctor about pregnancy. I have an almost 12 year old, I have had one miscarriage, and I am 31 years old, so if I am going to have another baby, doc suggests doing it in the next 2 years. I asked him about the Metformin, and he said he would keep me on it. I take 2,000 mg daily, and he said he wouldn't change the dosage or take me off it...

I think every doctor may be different.

There are studies going both ways. I would suggest doing some research on your own, and then taking your data collected along with your own concerns to your doctor.
