We couldnt get tested at the GP but ended up getting a referal to take the semen sample to a special lab. But first i had to go and pick up a specimen container from a hospital (but you probably wont have to do that bit).
the semen sample needs to be taken straight to the lab or where ever it needs to go as the temperature can change the test results and kill some sperm off i think. i dropped it off within 45mins from the sample being taken. (they asked me how long it had been too). I wrapped the container up in foil also, but it was 32degree day.
Good luck with it all

One thing to note is that my regular doctor sent us to a urologist when the morphology was 6%. The average for fertility is supposed to be above 14%. The specialist actually told us that 4-6% is the average and told my OBGYN to not refer patients with those numbers.
If you are not happy with your Fertility Doctor, you should change to a different one. That is what I did. This is a very emotional and difficult experience. If your doctor doesn't make you feel informed or is impatient with you....go elsewhere.
We also had to have my semen analysis prior to any fertility treatments to rule out any additional issues beyond my PCOS. The specimen was to be dropped off no more than 30 minutes after it was collect, which proved to be very interesting as we live about 90 minutes from the lab! Anyways, also had to keep it warm so we had to keep it under my shirt in our armpits to keep it the correct body temperature.
