Hi all,
So in a nut shell I have recently found out that I have pcos and will need a helping hand if I want to even try to conceive.
It's all been very stressful and upsetting but I have hope and will be seeing a infertility specialist in November. I have been taking metformin.
What I have been really struggling with is my sisters response. Thus will sound very trivial I know, but she does not seem to understand the stress or implications of this.
For example her friend is having a hen do next June, I explained that I don't want to commit to anything that far ahead because I don't yet know what treatment will involve and I am hopeful there is a chance a may be pregnant and therefore will not want to go on a hen do.
Her response was "well she went on yours" and you shouldn't stop your life first it". I'm not stopping my life I just don't want to commit to a hen especially since it's her friend not mine. Following this conversation she hasn't spoken to me.
I'm just hoping for some honest feedback. Is she right to respond like this? Am I being selfish? I just don't want to pay for something that I hope not to be able to attend! I really wish she could try to be more empathic. She responded in a similar way when I first said I had stopped taking contraception, but with the added stress of possibly being infertile I'm finding myself taking this very hard.
Any advice or thoughts welcomed :)
I'm sorry your family aren't being more supportive of you. It's not trivial. I feel like you're sister is being quite insensitive and selfish, whereas you're being thoughtful by not committing to something when hopefully you won't be able to go.
How did you go with the fertility specialist? Fingers crossed things are going well for you.

Thanks for your reply. It turns out I was right not to commit to anything. Since writing my post I started on metformin and was pregnant within a month! I didn't even make it to the infertility appointment instead I had an early pregnancy scan :) my sister soon quietened down her opinions.
I'm now 16 weeks pregnant. I can't believe after all that stress and worry! And I hope this serves as a hopeful story to anyone reading this going through a similar thing. Don't panic, you never know what might happen!
