First off I want to say I'm sorry if this is TMI but I figured a lot of women with PCOS have issues with menstrual cycles....
I can't remember the last time I had a "real" period...My doctor put me on spironolactone in late September and when starting it I had some light bleeding sometimes twice a month. It was a huge pain just annoying. I started my menstrual cycle yesterday(first just some light bleeding) but today its been heavy....I have super bad cramps to the point were I was crying....I have been having to change my tampon more than normal....I don't know if its because I haven't had my period for so long, or because I have pre hypo hypothyroidism and I have low iron. Which I also found in late September that I have both of those,Or its because of the spironolactone?
I guess my question is....Has anyone else experienced heavy periods due to their PCOS? If so was there anything that seemed to help....
I cannot take the pill, I ended up in the hospital because of it, so that isn't an option for me. I just need to know what to do. I have thought about calling my doctor but I wasn't sure if I should do that.

I seem to do the same if it is light one month, the next month i am super heavy, It doesnt hurt to ask your doctor :) but i dont think it is anything to worry about. I once had a heavy period for 6 weeks and my doctor at the time said not to worry until i bled for 3 months!! But i got a new doctor after her lack of concern...
