Polycythemia is a condition in which there is a net increase in the total circulating erythrocyte (red blood cell) mass of the body. Primary polycythemia occurs when excess erythrocytes are produced as a result of a proliferative abnormality of the bone marrow. Secondary polycythemia is caused by increases of erythropoietin that result in an increased production of...

Hey all,
I was told by my doctor that I most likely have adenomyosis, (similar to endometriosis but in the walls of my uterus, causes abnormal periods etc.), and another doctor said it was PCOS. I don't have insurance so a definitive diagnosis won't happen 4 awhile.
I have never had abnormal periods until last year when I bled for 5 months straight, but I never miss periods they're always too heavy and too long. My BF and I have not been consistent at all with the BC and I have now gone 2 months in a row with no period. I test weekly but all the HPT are negative, I have had a stillbirth and a MC in the last few years and each time it took until I was 6 weeks to 2 months pregnant for the test to show positive. However, I am losing my mind waiting for results.
I have been feeling nauseous and can't even be in the house when eggs are cooked, and I have been having random stabbing pains in my abdomen just below and to the left/right of my bellybutton, in general the area feels tense and a little tender at times. However, I have been under a huge amount of stress, have put on 15 lbs since august and have not been sleeping. I stopped taking BC and Prozac as well when I suspected I was pregnant, (2 months ago), so I don't know if any of that could be affecting my symptoms.
Does anyone know if the pains are normal for someone with PCOS to experience in early pregnancy? And can anyone tell me if the missed periods could be from the weight gain/stress? This whole PCOS thing is very new to me and I have no doctor to turn to for help, I'm only 22 and I am terrified to lose another baby so if I am pregnant I need to know so I can do all I can to make my baby healthy, I can't go through another loss I really think it will end my relationship.
Please help, not knowing is making the stress and anxiety 20x's worse than it needs to be. thank you

I forgot to add that I am having a constant wetness down below, it's like a clear mucus but no itching or smell or anything to suggest an infection. Sorry for TMI but it might be helpful.

Can you go get the blood test for pregnancy? It is much more sensitive than the pee test. Those things can all be symptoms of pregnancy but sometimes if you hope to be pregnant, you get kind of "phantom" symptoms. (At least, I do, been TTC for a while and sometimes it happens.)

I'm sorry for all you have gone through. I have PCOS and Endo so I hope I can help you out a little. Weight gain and stress can have an effect on your periods for sure. With PCOS you can skip periods and Endo can cause that also. Endo can also cause your periods to be supper heavy and irregular . PCOS messes with your hormones, and that's why I have had 5 miscarriages (at least those are the ones I have kept track of). With me the PCOS caused me to have low progesterone and in turn when I would finally get pregnant the baby would have a hard time producing the hCG. So by the time I would have a positive test I would then loss the baby soon after because of the low progesterone. My Dr. Just did a 21 day progesterone test to see if I was ovulating. It also tells the Dr. if my lining is thickening enough. Maybe that's a test you should think about if your not pregnant. Even if you are you can get your progesterone tested. When I had my daughter (miracle baby) I had to be on progesterone for the first three months so I didn't miscarry again. I hope this help you out a little good luck and keep us updated :-D

That would explain why I miscarried last time, I felt so sure I was pregnant but every test came up negative for 6 weeks and a few days later I lost the baby. What does the progesterone do during pregnancy and is there a way I can test that to see if I am pregnant?

Progesterone supports the pregnancy until the placenta takes over. During a beta, your doc should check your progesterone levels too.
