Ughh. My doctor is no help. He doesn't explain things clearly.
I am 23. I have PCOS.
I have extremely irregular periods. I have had maybe 2 periods this year, both of which lasted less than 2 days.
The doctor gave me provera, which induces an extremely heavy period after taking it for 10 days.
But he says that it doesn't make you ovulate, it just makes you shed the inner uterus? I guess?
Anyway, he won't give me actual birth control. I don't really understand why. The first DR wouldn't give me BC because I have migraines. Now the DR I have basically says I don't need it?
So if I go have unprotected sex with my boyfriend am I going to get pregnant? Do I have a higher, lower, or equal chance of becoming pregnant compared to a girl who has a period every single month like clockwork?
We haven't been having ANY sex lately because I want BC.. the condom isn't reassuring enough for me. (I am the product of a broken condom!)

It is true that provera will not induce ovulation just the shedding. however just bc u have PCOS does not mean u cannot get pregnant! Theres no real answer to ur question about having a higher, lower, or equal chance. you can go years without ovulating then all of a sudden one month u ovulate. Its all about timing and u never can tell with PCOS when that timing will occur. ur best bet is to get another dr. or go to planned parenthood they wont turn u down for BC. good luck.
