PCOS is not curable- however there have been cases that some women "grow out of it" as they get older. Also, some women's hormones are reset after having a baby and don't have the affects of PCOS anymore.
Yes paps aren't the most comfortable thing but its a healthy precautionary procedure so for the couple minutes it lasts -its worth it! You do NOT have to shave your private region - some women do on a regular basis but health professionals really don't care- just come as yourself!
