I have an insurance question

Are any of you ladies on a private insurance that covers fertility, or do you or your husband have your own business where you are self employed, & were able to find a business insurance for self employment that covers fertility? I hope this insurance question makes sense to you, because my husband & I are trying to find insurance that covers fertility & we're not having the luck that we thought we would yet. Any advice, tips or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A lot of insurance compaines still don't cover a lot of fertility treatments unfortunately. I believe that most will cover meds and possibly diagnosis depending on how it is coded. I don't think that most ins will cover IUI or IVF treatments, or they only cover partial. Sorry I know that dosen't clear things up but maybe call a company and ask what they do and don't cover. a lot of the coverage depends on the state that the policy is written in. we live in indiana and the state does not mandate coverage. dh's old company is based in illinois and their state legislature does require coverage so we had it. it just depends on if the state sees infertilty as a treatable medical condition. gotta love the government:)...

there are private fertility insurance companies. I came across some when I was looking. Most have certain requirements on how long you've been trying to conceive (1-1.5 yrs) before you can even apply. Most cover up to so much $ or up to so many cycles (IVF).

Google infertility insurance....you should get some leads. Good luck...I'm going to be on the hunt soon too...if I find a good one I will share! Good luck.
