The excess hair on my face and body makes me feel really unfeminine and is doing a number on my self-esteem (has been for years). I went to get threaded a month a go and the beautician suggested an epilator. It's working out okay, the hairs are coming back in thinner, but the bumps all over and under my chin from ingrowns is really discouraging.

Does anyone else have serious trouble with ingrown hairs? I'm looking for tips on other hair removal routines. And like a lot of women, laser isn't an option for me, If you're higher than a 4 of the Fitzgerald scale it's not recommended and my first and only session resulted in 3rd degree burns I still cover up with heavy makeup.

So advice?

Plucking and the direction in which you pull the hair is what causes ingrown I think. I have a problem with them too. I recently started waxing, but waxing doesn't work on the thicker darker hairs on my chin, so I still have to pluck them. I plan on asking my doctor about possible medications or creams for hirsutism next time I see him. I don't care about my body, I just want to help the hairs on my chin :(

I've used a cream called Vaniqa. You apply it 2x a day. I used it when it first came out. I shave my chin, neck and upper lip every day, and I'm getting tired of doing this. It is also giving me ingrown hairs and little bumps on my chin.
