Polycythemia is a condition in which there is a net increase in the total circulating erythrocyte (red blood cell) mass of the body. Primary polycythemia occurs when excess erythrocytes are produced as a result of a proliferative abnormality of the bone marrow. Secondary polycythemia is caused by increases of erythropoietin that result in an increased production of...
I decided that I had to do soemthing about the problem. I stopped the waxing and plucking and just trimmed it with scissors, bleached and shaved. Putting a razor to my face was the hardest thing I did, I cried before and after I did it!! But in the long run its much better as it won't make the problem any worse.
First I tried laser, yes it REDUCES hair growth, but it doesn't remove hair PERMANENTLY. Laser works best on dark hairs, but once they get fairer, the laser isn't as effective.
Electrolysis is the way to go, it is permanent. Apparently the latest is a combination of laser AND electrolysis doing treatments at set intervals in the hair growth cycle. I haven't had this, as I'm nearly all cleared up now. My electrologist said she would have done that with me if they had the laser at the time. They use this method for clearing larger areas like legs too.
Anyway, I've been having fairly regular electrolysis treatment on my chin, neck, and rest of face for 5 years now. I don't have to do anything between visits any more, usually every three weeks now - no more bleaching or shaving. My close friends say they don't notice my problem anymore and I have been out on dates just a couple of hours after the electrolsis, you can't tell.
But do your research. I had a very good electrologist in Australia, then I went travelling - it was very hard to find a proper electrologist (in Canada and UK). Even though I asked lots of questions, and they seemingly knew what they were doing I had several bad experiences with getting scabs and lots of bruises. If your electrolysis does this, they are not doing it properly!
In the UK yo can get cheap electolysis with a referral from your doctor. At some beauty/electrolysis schools with this referral you can get cheap treatment from trainees. Its worth looking in to a doctor's referral.
Good luck!
and to JosephineC, I just checked the pricing where I get mine done and to do everything you are doing it would be $480.00 canadian per treatment so I'd say its a good price as long as the quality is good which I'm sure it is since your sister and mother have gone.
I had my unwanted hair gone!
