I hated it. I didn't have a period for two years when I was on it. When I quit taking it, I had a period from hell. I was also a female dog.

I've heard that it is not a good treatment for PCOS. I have also read that women with PCOS need to be on monophasic birth control which is the same amount of hormone for all three weeks. I read that Triphasic increases cysts. An example of Triphasic is Ortho Tr Cyclen.

Women with PCOS already have hormone issues. This shot is high hormone and messes our LH FSH etc up more. I was on it for 7 years and had no period the whole time. After being off of it I had it twice a month. I gained about 50 lbs over that time which complicates our insulin resistance, etc. They have come out with the fact that anyone should be on it only short term because it causes bone loss. I would never take it again and I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Just one person's opinion: It's not worth it!

I was on it as a teenager. I was raised by a single father who was convinced I was going to get pregnant at 12. So I was on the pill from 12 to 16 then the shot from 16 to 18.

I hated it. I was so up and down and then there wasn't a woman around to explain it all. No dr would answer my questions because it was something my mom should tell me, but she wasn't around (my parents had issues). Then when I quit taking the shot it took almost two years for my period to start again.

Incidently while I was on the shot I started having the PCOS symptoms, but of course the dr kind of waived them away. Like I was making it up or something.

I wish they would ban that stupid shot.
