I used Clomid for 4 months over a year ago with no success with ovulation. Please don't let this discourage you because many women are able to conceive with Clomid.

When I didn't ovulate with Clomid, I took Prometrium( a form of Progesterone) to induce a period and repeated this process for 4 months. My doctor told me that if I wasn't successful in 4 months, I needed to try something more aggressive. She also told me to lose about 25 pounds which is so hard to do with PCOS.

I'm now down 25 pounds and taking Provera ( a form of Progesterone) to induce a period, FollistimAQ injections to stimulate my follicles and an Ovidrel injection to induce ovulation. I'm finally ovulating for the first time in many years, so I'm hopeful.

Again, many women are successful with Clomid. I just wanted to share my experience in order to answer your question about what happens if Clomid doesn't work. I wish you all the best:)

I just finished my first round of Clomid. My dr. has me on 100mg on days 3-7. If I don't get AF by day 35 she wants me to take progesterone to induce another cycle. I've read it can take 3-6 months for the Clomid to really start working, so don't give up on it. You may need a stronger dose or to try something else. But even if Clomid doesn't work for you, there are still other options out there. Try not to worry too much about it because there is always hope!

I actually just started Clomid yesterday...so I am on day 2 of my first cycle. I am feeling the same way that you are! My husband and I have been trying to have a child for over a year now....I am trying to be really optimistic and I really hope that my dreams come true. I was started on 50mg of Clomid and I go back to my doctor on September 1st for a follow up. Maybe we can become friends and support each other during this whole process. I could really use some friends right now that know what I am going through! :(

I used Clomid. I started at 50mg for 3 months and the 3rd month I conceived and I now have a healthy 3 year old son thanks to Clomid so yes it does work for people not everyone but it does and don't loose faith.

u usually wont ovulate untill after ur done taking the clomid so dont panic. im currently on month 4 the trick with clomid is to get the dosage correct for u. my dr told us that a normal couple has a 20% chance of pregnancy every month and after 6 months its like 80% and once they start u ovulating given that there is no other issues our chances of concieveing will be the same. i have yet to be put on metformin with clomid but i have heard great results from it. good luck with the baby making!

I don't ovulate myself, and certainly didn't on clomid. Clomid caused cysts, so I was eventually switched to something else. Regardless, there are trigger shots to help ovulation. I did ovidrel. I am currently pregnant (after 17 medicated months). I had to do injects because I could handle those better. With that being said, MANY women are able to ovulate on Clomid. ;-) I have a similar story to shawnie, actually. So if clomid doesn't work...there are other options. My suggestion is, if you're NOT ovulating on it, request to see a reproductive endocrinologist.

Im new to this website and thought I would add a comment.
I am currently on my second cycle of clomid. On my first cycle I didn't ovulate at all so they doubled my dose. I am now mid-cycle and don't feel positive. We have been trying for a baby for a year and a half and it's so hard to 'switch off' and not worry about it. Its the first thing I think of in the morning and the last thing at night - Im now struggling to stay positive. I hope this is normal or a side-effect of the hormones.

Thank you to everyone for the comments. I have just started on cycle 3 and it appears I did ovulate last month although around day 18/19 so a few days later than expected.

Hi Ladies!
We have been TTC for 3+ years. I started on Clomid last month, unfortunatelly I didn't take my OPK at the right time of the day(i found this out kinda late) and don't know for sure if I ovulated or not, I feel like I did, cause I actually got a positive OPK at around 11 pm one day.
I am on Metformin, 500mgs 3 times a day, and the Clomid. I'm in my 2ww, one week down, one more to go. I can keep you posted, and if someone wants to be Clomid buddies just ad me.
