I am glad your dialysis sessions went well. I also did dialysis (one time only) before I had my bi-lateral nephrectomy and I felt great afterward. I did have a bit more trouble with it after the nephrectomy, I think because of the fluid removal. It still wasn't bad but I had some headaches at the beginning. I am so glad they let you eat and drink! My center woudn't let you eat a thing but everybody cheated!

One other thing...I was given an epidural after my nephrectomy which pretty mich cured me of any abdominal pain after surgery. If that is something that is available to you I would recommend it.

I don't see a connection between the gall bladder pain and the dialysis. the breathing problem could have been caused by anxiety, not dialysis.
nice that they bring snacks and drinks. at best ice chips were allowed during dialysis and many patients really chowed down on them. I didn't need or want them because I didn't have fluid pulled.

THanks for your responses guys. I'm not well up on dilysis so don't know why they might think that dialysis could make my pain worse- I'll just see how it goes- last session wasn't good. they got needles in and blew 3 veins- so I had to go home with no dialysis- luckily I still have some function in my kidneys so wasn;t really a problem. Thanks for your advice Lindey- you had mentioned this to me earlier so I've already arranged an epidural with my surgeon. Roll on 2nd November when both kidneys and gallbladder come out- I can;t wait for the relief.

Surgery went very well on 2nd November . I am now kidney free and it was well worht it benefits showing already- I'm hungry (1st time in 2 yrs). Will try to post a really good update tomorrow on my journaal about the last two weeks as I was in a very critical state at one point and had to be taken to Intensive Care Unit. So glad to be home today but finding basic tasks leke getting up off chair/toilet very difficult without hosital rails. I know this will improve - it's just hard work at the moment and 500 mils of fluid is my restriction - this is really difficult. I am getting by by having 25 ml drinks from athinmble throughout the day and saving myself 200 mils for a glass of vimto before bed- it gives me something to look forward to . Boiled sweets are a godsend. More from me tomorrow- Thank you for all your prayers and wishes- I used them all up in the first week of recover but I'm definitely on the other side of the track. speak soon x JUlie
