Gee, and people wonder why I never want a transplant. I don't do well with drugs. I'd rather take my chances with dialysis or, since I've done all I want to do in life, conservative treatment.

According to this article it's actually even risky after the kidney has been transplanted? I was not aware of this really, this is a bit discouraging.

Ask your neuphtologist Engimatic. I thought I'd heard somewhere people can live for 20 years + with the right transplanted organ.

No. My neph says in 2 years I will start the dialysis process. I'll see how that goes but I'm so sensitive to so many medications so that's why I don't want a transplant.

Thanks Enigmatic. I have no living donor so it would be awhile before I had a transplant, although I was reading about deceased donors and there aren't as many worries with those organs. Still there aren't enough. I saw what my dad went through. I know that was 50 years ago and this is now but even though I'm doing counselling it's hard to get the memories out of my mind. He was very sick before and after his transplant.
