Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
I know that calcium tablets are taken when on dialysis to bind with the phosphorus as dialysis does not eliminate phosphorus.
The only reason to eliminate calcium supplement is if you have too much it does not secrete from the body and sits in the blood stream which I believe calcifies which is not good. Maybe that is what the doctor meant to say.
Also please note there are different calcium supplements that the body digests better than others. Google calcium supplements and find out.
Otherwise ask the doctor why he is recommending to lower it.
