Off topic but not entirely as my question does involve my B/P med. My doctor changed my B/P med last week (02/14) after my being on Lisinopril/ HCTZ for over 15 years with no problems. He took my B/P last week during an exam and the reading was 136/ 86. Yes, that's high, but he only took it the one time and decided to change me to 50mg. of Losartin daily instead. I've taken my B/P daily since Thursday a week ago and it's kind of been all over the place with more high readings than lower readings. I had a nurse visit today ( which they charged me a $20.00 dollar co-pay for) and she took my B/P on both arms. Left arm, 119/86, right arm, 132/88. She spoke with my doctor and he says it looks like the Losartin is doing what it should be doing and for me to come back again next week for another B/P and of course, another 20.00 co-pay, and i'll have to leave work early again! That will make 3 weeks in a row I'm leaving work early for dr visits.
On my way home I got to wondering if my doctor is getting kickbacks to prescribe that med to me? Anyone know how I can find out if he's just prescribing the med because the pharm. company is paying him to?
