Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
I see that you posted a while ago and haven’t had any replies. I’ve been a member for years but stopped checking in because the site is so inactive these days. If you tell me a little more about your situation I’ll see if I can help at all. I’m 54, diagnosed aged 40 and have gathered a lot of knowledge about the disease along the way. Do you know what your kidney function is? What is your general health like? For now, stay calm, you may well be in the 50% of people who don’t have significant trouble from their PKD.
