Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
in my case I had several infections after my transplant and after consult with my transplant and the neph who treated me during kidney failure and dialysis we decided removal was a good option.
if discomfort is the issue removal of one kidney may be an option.
