Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.

Don't you all too, I'am sure that you do. I guess we never really knew how much she gave of herself to our group. There are so many times I think to myself, where is Ruth and why doesn't she answer this question? I'am feeling very sad this morning, probably due to the non stop rain we are having here in NY and everywhere else on the eastern seaboard. Well anyway, I just needed to vent a little this morning and am missing Ruth so much. Anyone else want to comment on what she has done for us all? It's just not the same without her...:( Helen, what do you know, you've known Ruth longer than any of us?

Hi Norma,

Yes, I miss Ruth's guidance. she really helped me understand this disease we have. When I first joined our support group, I was in a panic like the rest of the newbies on here. Ruth (and you :) ) took me under her wing and told me it isn't the end of the world. She sent me articles on my personal email list and shared her excel spreadsheet so I can put my blood test #'s on. Explained to me what to expect and gave me solid advice. To this day, I feel like I have a level head about this disease process. I also helped her when one of her family members had breast cancer.

I know about our rain we are getting. It sure is depressing - I am the same way. I even went to bed at 8:50pm last night. Hey! The sun's out now and its extremely stuffy here in the office.

I was wondering if by any chance, she has had the opportunity for a duel transplant and had to leave suddenly, do you think thats a possibility? I pray that it is.

some of the questions that have been coming in leave me thinking, "too bad Ruth isn't here to answer this".
Ruth is such an asset to this group. I miss her terribly.

Yes, I miss Ruth, too. She's my massive liver buddy. I asked her once how she does all of this (helping us all so much when she's suffering so much herself). She said it keeps her going. She's such a fount of knowledge and information, it's no wonder we're feeling the hole left by her absence at the moment. We just have to keep hoping that good things are coming her way.

Ruth has been a great support for me during my pkd and pld journey she has shared great knowledge and given fantastic support to me and many others.
