Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Heidi, I wish to apologise to you, I don't know what came over me. We had just gotten bad news and I fell apart. Having your children be sick when they are 40 or 4, is simple no different, especially when the cause is from their very own mother. There is nothing I can say or do to explain away my inexcusable behavior but to say how sorry that I am and please except my apology. If you can't I so thoroughly understand. The longer i live, I more I hate PKD. It's not fair to anyone, but especially to us that are older and just getting all the symptoms that you have lived with since you were very young. I just hate it so bad... I'am not going to say anymore because I will ramble on and on about something that I have no control over. Again, I am so very sorry, it's probably the worst thing I have ever done in my life and I can't even tell you why... I am really ashamed of myself.

Thank you. I appreciate your post. It was understandably a very emotional time and a misunderstanding. I am sorry as well and so grateful you didn't leave. I was very concerned about you leaving because you have really been there for all of us and I know all of us hope we can be there to empathize and send love to you as well.
I have three children of my own and all three have this ridiculous disease. (from earlier posts, I adopted five as well). We need hope more than anything that research will find new alternatives.

I'm so glad your post. We all have our moments and the stress of your now grown, but still in your heart, baby boy being sick and in so much pain (and Jimmy will always be your baby, no matter how big or how old he gets; he's still going to be that tiny little boy you gave birth to and brought home, afraid to touch for fear he'd break!). I want to reach out and give you and Heidi the biggest hugs; you are both amazing women and you both mean so much to all of us.
I hope Jimmy is doing better, the stones are breaking into teeny tiny pieces and disappearing and he's peeing like the proverbial racehorse! Please give him a very, very gentle hug from his DS family!

I read your reply with a sense of deja'vue. You wrote almost the same thing to me many years ago about my son. A mother is a mother is a mother..............No matter how old our kids are, we are terrified and heartbroken when they are sick or in pain. My son went through a rejection some months ago and I went right back to that same worried Mother of 7 years ago. And truthfully, in the back of my mind, I worry about him all the time. When he comes home from work and is exhausted, I wonder if it's the normal tired from work, or is PKD rearing its ugly head again??? My daughter says, I'd worry the stink off S___! Andf she is soo right, hehe. But as usual good advice Ruth, and a Happy New Year to all.
