Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Hello everyone, we are back from NYC and have seen a doctor at NYU. What a trip this has been and we are both so exhausted, but... we are headed back again on Sunday for Jim to have surgery on Monday, 6:00a.m. sharp. This doc said there was absolutely no reason on the face of this earth why Jim should not have surgery to remove that cancer. It was not deep or extended, was pretty much where it was when it began. He is however redoing the biopsy results and the CT scans for whatever reason, just to make sure everything is what it is said to have been by the local, yocal doc's in this area. I can't type much tonight as we I am pooped beyond being pooped, lol Just so grateful that there is someone out there that could take care of my husband. This doctor, FYI is named Milan Amin and is at NYU if anyone ever has something like this come up. He dose nothing but vocal cord surgery, each and every day, so knows his business. thank God. Anyway, it will be done as an outpatient and we'll stay in NYC for 4 days afterward so the doc can check him out, using a general anesthesia and will take about an hour or a wee bit more as they have to be very careful of the vocal cords, unlike the biopsy that only took about 10 mins. Thats pretty much it, oh and 97 to 98% cure rate, doesn't get much better than that.

This is such a relief. Things are looking up for Jim. He should be proud to have you as a constant support system. We all have been praying and saying the rosary on behalf of Jim. You take good care of yourself. Glad he found a facility that can take care of his cancer. Thats all it matters. I look forward to hearing that he beat this. Please keep us posted this week.

What an incredible relief! You are truly an amazing woman and Jim is so blessed to have married you all those many years ago! This sounds so encouraging! Will be keepinig my fingers and toes crossed and have you both in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

let us know how the surgery goes but it really sounds so hopeful and Jim won't have to go through the radiation.

Amen to second opinions! Boy, things are moving fast, I hope you can rest up before Jim's surgery but it doesn't sound as if it's going to be horrendous. Great great news and I've got my fingers crossed that your new doc gets the results he wants from the scan and biopsy.
