Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Support Group

there is no reason to ignore your high bp because you are worried about making too many changes. lowering your bp can only help, not hurt you.
stay away from Ibupropen and other NSAIDS. as you are learning, they do more harm than a headache. Tylenol is not the most powerful pain reliever but reducing your headache somewhat is better than the damage from NSAIDS.
as to your other symptoms, have you had a flu shot?
lots of love,
Norma...
I tend to get sinus infections fairly regularly and they can be very painful. If they get really bad the pain reaches my teeth and jaw. Just thought I would mention it in case you are starting one..........
They will also be giving a "special" blood pressure monitor as part of the study that will be mine to keep.
Anyway, back to my point, once I get all the test results, along with all my own blood pressure logs, I'll be in to see my family doctor this week. I suspect he'll just have me double up on my Norvasc until I get in to see my nephrologist in four weeks. But, we'll see.
As far getting a flu shot, I'm not a fan of them. Every time I received a flu shot in the past I always got the flu after a few days. So I figure I may as well take my chances. I guess the advantage is I can choose when I get the flu if I get the shot.
After transplant, I was feeling very dizzy and weak and almost fainting. Well, it turns out I no longer needed NAY BP meds. Now, with no medication my BP is regularly 110/65. And although I don't add salt, I do not actively restrict my sodium.
As for the flu shot, I know it is something people often argue about but I think it is worth your while because a bad flu can actually be very very dangerous, even deadly.
Hope you feel better soon!
Sometimes what we eat can raise our blood pressure. If I mistakingly eat something with MSG in it my blood pressure will go up. Even our emotions can raise it. I know regular exercise and drinking plenty of water helps lower it. Since being on the pkdiet I have lowered the amount of blood pressure medication I have been taking. My bp is around 112/70
my BP is fluctuating, I get mild headache when BP reaches 145/93
