Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Hi everyone, Just want to let you all know that Jim and I are off to NY city and we probably won't be home for a good 2 weeks! With any kind of luck that is. Jim has an apt. with Dr. Amin the doctor that saved his live, on monday, then we are staying for a show and dinner at the greatest Italian restaurant that I have ever known! I am still in shock but know that these things do happen.
After that we are off to VA for a wonderful Thanksgiving with all our children and grandchildren. We don't stay at Terri's house as it is a mad house, with kids running up and down 3 flights of stairs, dogs running after them and two 18 yrs. olds, trying to get the little ones in trouble. but all in all, the greatest day of our life. But glad we have a hotel to go to...
I want to tell you all how much I've enjoyed and learned!! from all the transplant conversations going back and forth. I never thought at my age, I could have been so stupid, but apparently I was, notice that I said I was, I have been finally reading and reading all I can get my hands on. Not that I would ever be a recipiant, as I am not, but knowlege is POWER and I have always known that in my life! Apparently there is so much more to this than I could have ever known, and...for that I am eternally grateful, having an entire family filled with PKD.
I love you all and I love what you are doing for yourself and others.
gotta go, need to get the suitcases packed but can't go anywhere without saying good bye to probably the most important people in my life.

As for transplant, I know that you are not interested right now but I hope you will keep your mind open. I cna't remember but has your doctor talked to you about it or recommended one way or another? Is this your decision or one you came to with your doctor? IN any case, I know you can live happy and healthy no matter what your choice but I am on the pro-transplant wagon now that I am feeling so good again.
But back to the topic at hand...it has been a joy getting to know you and I look forward to a re-cap when you return!
