Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Support Group
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Mr. James P. Meagher of Endwell, NY drove us to the gym this morning where he proceeded to do 30 min. on the treadmill per his PT advise. He is driving everywhere now, feels great except for the huge abdomen he has acquired and that is a wicked hernia caused from the adomonial surgery. No surgery can be done to repair it for at least a year, unless it causes issues. That is the only issue he has at this time. For those of you who don't know Jim, he suffered a Triple A rupture on the 28th of May, was rushed to the ER, they operated on him and saved him. The aneurysm was 12 cm and it is virtually unheard of for someone to survive a ruture that large, let along to recover with no complications at all, zero, zippo! I am forever grateful to all for their concerns and prayers we have received. I am a happy girl, just hope that my labs reflect how happy I am next week. Dam kidney doctor tracked me down! As for the pain, it's still here, in all it's glory. I can only go to he pain doctor once a month, and I gave them my one time last month, so have to wait for the end of this month to see what thay can do for me.

Per your pain, I don't know about where you live but here in Palm Beach County, there is a pain clinic every other block - not entirely on the up and up, but, if I were in significant pain and couldn't get in to see my regular doc, I'd sure take advantage of one.
You live in Endwell...as in END WELL?! This just tops it all! You blessed yourselves by choosing to live in such an incredibly named town!

Yup, those kidney docs, they have some sort of magic radar. They can find us anywhere (mine is just sent me the drink more fluids email...it's coming up on lab time). I don't know how they do it. Maybe we have a little tracker in one of our cysts and that's how they find us. In this case, I haven't seen him since last year (he was deployed) so it will be nice to catch up with him and see how he's doing and what's new in the hospital (which is being invaded by the Army...I love Navy medicine as it's wonderfully patient centric, which is antithetical to how the Army operates). This is going to be interesting.
I do hope someone would please get your pain iunder control, especially now that Jim is driving again. You have long deserved proper and adequate pain management and it is high time you get treated properly! This is YOUR time; use your wonderful skills and take care of yourself this time (and let us know if you need suggestions, etc. for relief).
