Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.

I had my left kidney scraped and denerved a couple weeks ago.

I think it is going to releive a lot of my pain and allow me to cut back on my pain meds. Fingers crossed

I've got pictures. Pretty gruesome.

Good luck with your recovery - Please keep us updated about the pain and whether it's gone completely. Are you going to load the oictures- I would love to see them.

I pretty much slept through my 6 week recovery.

The doctor could not entirely cut the nerve bundle going into the kidney, something to do with the blood supply being in the way.

I have definitely improved. Not to the point I am off of my pain meds. I have cut back considerably and have a much better quality of life.

The doctor said that the largest one in the first pic was baseball sized.

The dark cysts have blood in them. Many were infected.

I didn't know there was a sac around your kidney's...

Thanks for posting Larry. I am glad it helped! And yes, we are weird about pictures! I am glad I got to see them. I also posted pics of both my kidneys (which were removed) on my page. Soemtimes I still take a look at them just to remind myself about the aliens that used to reside in my body!

I hope you continue to feel the benefits of the procedure.
