All the time...

Sometimes I stay up over 30 hours due to pain :/

If it's not pain it's my epilepsy causing me to twitch or a migraine or something!

It just never ends.

But I seem to make up for it occasionally by sleeping 14+ hours.

Have you tried Melatonin? It works pretty well. :)

Lately I have been alternating between Tylenol PM and Unisom, which have been working. Otherwise I struggle with insomnia.

I have struggled with sleep ALL my life, big time. The slightest noise or movement would keep me awake. But this last year, since I have been below 10% kidney function, I am sleeping very better than ever. I am wondering if heavy creatinine is a sedative, lol! Also, my pain has not only not gotten worse over the years, but actually gotten better. What's THAT all about?

I know my sleep issues go far beyond PKD. I was just wondering if insomnia is common for people with PKD.

I am to the point, OTC drugs don't do it for me anymore.

Since my transplant July 2009 and all the medications that I take I have to take ambien (5mg) every night. I have tried not to take it and I stay awake all night! I've tried over the counter meds, hot milk, everything but nothing works.

My doctor had me try Amitriptyline. It helped, but because of a heart condition, I couldn't take a large enough dose to ensure sleep.

Right now I am trying Clonazepam. It is a little better than Amitriptyline was.

I have some Ambien (10 MG) that I take when I absolutely must to fall asleep. That one is hard to get my doctor to refill.

clonazepame is what I take for anxiety and sleep, it really helps me a lot. I take it only when necessary, which is a lot these days, but I know that I have to take it to stay centered and I do. It's necessary and we do what we have to do! Stay well my friend

I'm taking Wellbutrin and Cymbalta for anxiety/depression.

For me, pain = depression

Right now, that combination is working really good for me.

There is still some room for improvement with my sleep.
