Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a progressive, genetic disorder of the kidneys. It occurs in humans and other organisms. PKD is characterised by the presence of multiple cysts (polycystic) in both kidneys. The disease can also damage the liver, pancreas and rarely the heart and brain.
Well I havent been on here in awhile either. Trying to be STRONG about all this but the kidneys let me know the disease hasnt disapeared yet....Anyways Ive been drinking tons of water and that makes me feel really good & not putting salt on any of my food. Problem though Ive been waking up in the morn with a killer backache when my bladder is full and Im laying there...Thinking I could have a UTI....So guess I'll get the urine checked out..
I find getting up in the night or early morning and emptying my bladder, even if I don't absolutely "have" to go makes a world of difference when it comes to the back/kidney pain in the morning.
By all means get checked; hopefully it will end up being benign!

I did nocturnal dialysis at one point, during this time I also had a motorcycle accident that left me with a bunch of broken bones and needing a wheelchair. getting to the bathroom while on dialysis with broken ankles was no joke so I got a covered pail which was my potty when needed. I emptied it in the a.m., washed it and reused it.
if you hate getting up and going during the night, that may make it easier.
meanwhile, get your urine checked and let us know the results.
