Norma, an easy way to tell if this is from phosphorous would be to take Tums with meals for a few days. if that stops the itching you have your answer. calcium negates the phos.
don't make this a habit tho because too much calcium is not good either. let us know how you make out.

Normal phosphorous levels are generally said to be from 2.5 - 4.5, so yours are on the high side of normal. This is what I've been looking at recently and realised that I was eating all the high phosphorous foods. This link gives you an idea:

However, it seems more than coincidence that your itching started when you commenced taking the new meds. My mother has experienced a lot of problems like this with meds. Itching is one of the possible side effects of Percocet:

Call your doctor and see if he will prescribe an alternative.

Thanks chewitt, I was going to say that I have taken it before with no adverse side effects, however my kidney function was not this low either. Sigh .... So, I am betting you are probably right :(. Thanks honey!

Chewitt may be on the money about meds. check to see if they lower calcium or have any other itch producing side effects. kidney problems mean balancing everything.

Sorry to hear about this Norma... it's crazy how fast I forget these things. You know, once you leave one stage and go to the next, ya have to toss a few facts so that you can take in some new ones, I guess?

But all that to say, if it came on fast, maybe it is the meds, or a combination. I am finding that a lot of the things the doctors fail to tell us, is that these different drugs effect our mineral levels, etc. For me, the drugs I am doing must effect the magnesium, but no one told me that, I had to find out on my own.

Dear frozen Alaska! It's snowing down here in NY! Way too early yet for snow but then again it's snowing in NC as well! I don't have a good feeling about this winter! Thanks for your help, this is the dangest thing I have ever seen!! It doesn't appear to be phosphorous and I can't pin it down to the percoset either! Whatever it was, it's gone now and left some sabs in it's absence! I have never known a disease to be so complicated as PKD!! Well, whatever it was is gone, thank God for that anyway! Well, glad that has passed, yes, always something, and honestly, the immunosuppressants can add to the mysteries, heh.

I think we are down to about 6 1/2 hours of daylight Norma, when the clouds clear. But the issue is that the danged sun is so far into the southern horizon that it just seems a long ways off. But, it is what it is.... and we have nearly 2 months before we start gaining back daylight. :)

Might have been something you ate Norma. I'm finding that I'm becoming sensitive to more and more things all the time. It's very tedious. BTW, we had the warmest Halloween on record. It was bizarre, like summer again for the day. I'm not complaining, though, and the temperature is dropping now. I don't think I'd do very well where you are Heather. I hate the cold.
