Oh my dear!!! You surly have a number for a nurse on call, don't you? You need to call someone. Let me know if you have a number to call.

Also, are you constipated at all? If so, you need a stool softener such as Miralax. Being constipated is the worst thing as it's going to cause the solution to not get where it's supposed to be, as well as not drain correctly.

Have you seen fibrin in your exchange fluid? How do you feel? Do you have a temperature? Is there any chance you have an infection? Is the drain clear? Is this the one exchange that has given you these off numbers?

Keep us posted, I am praying, and again, there MUST be a number of a nurse on call.

CHeatherS ,No there is no nurse on call on the weekends, I was told to call on Monday if I have any more trouble. I am NOT constipated, and I don't see any fibrin in my exchange fluid. I feel really really bloated and tired and my blood pressure is up. The drain is clear in the bag so no Peritonitis. This is the first low number for a 4.25, the 2.5s have been low for a week my nurse told me to try the 4.25s over the weekend.

So are you doing manual exchanges, or are you on a cycler machine? Did only one exchange cause these numbers?

I did have one exchange at one time that was pretty odd like that, and kind of freaked me out. It all came back around the next exchange though, and I never did figure out what the heck that was all about.

I am still pretty new at this, only two months experience, and one month on the cycler machine. I am just pretty upset that there is no phone number for a nurse on call, because I know that at my clinic, someone is always on call, at nights, and weekends.

Have you eaten any unusual salty foods?

I wish I could be of more help from far far off...... please keep us posted on how things are going....

I'm on manual exchanges and no this has been going on for a week and I do 4 exchanges a day.

Heres my update:I was told to do all 4.25s with heparin in every bag and I get the most 2300 UF. I feel like something is still wrong because in my 4th bag I get 1500 or less. I asked the nurse about it she said put in a 1.5 bag at night so I wouldn't absorb all the sugar but I said what about the water? and how long should I put Heparin in my bags? (Apparently I'm not clogged up with fibrin) She said "I DON'T KNOW, I will talk to the other nurse on Monday when she is back from her vacation. AGHHHHH!!!

Oh dear my friend..... I wonder if you should talk to your doctor, or whomever is the doctor for the facility you go to. I can hardly believe this. They need to figure this out before it does any damage. I have a TON of questions..... but I am pretty upset with the care you are not getting..... please, keep us posted on how you are doing.

Well my nurse thinks I may have membrane failure she said that is rare but it just something that happens. They want me to continue with 4.25s until I see the doctor at clinic next Monday. If I continue to retain then I am going up there and get something done about this.

Oh dear, have they ever done a 24 hour collection on you to determine how well you are dialyzing? I am pretty upset about this, and saying prayers for you. This is very hard for you, and I know with you trying to lose weight, 4.5 is NOT what you want to have to be using. It's also very scaring on your membrane as well..... Is there anyway you can see the doctor sooner?

if it was me i'd go to the er right away would not wait till monday!!!!!!!! my daddy was on home peritioneal dialysis and whenever anythin' was wrong and he couldnt get ahold of the doctor he'd rush to the er needless to say he didn't do home dialysis very long he also was gettin' infection in his bellybutton all the time........... good luck !!!!!!
