I made the first stanza rhyme, but I got tired of that and it was hard to make it work.
The devil is appealing
With his shiny silver eyes
But when the red starts to come through
He always seems to lie
Because every time you speak to him
That buried pain seems to rise
It hurts to see myself this way
It hurts to see me cry
But though the pain keeps coming
Every time still feels like a surprise
Though the silver slivers fill my days
and make my pain feel lesser
I can’t forget the first time
The one where I started
The only time I ever felt like quitting
Since then it’s been a normal thing
Something that I can’t live without
And though it hurts to even picture it
I still can’t stop considering the fact
that even though you think it’s wrong
It makes me better
The chemicals stop the pain
and they seem to make it better
It can stop the static
If only for a moment
It washes out the mental pain
and changes it around
Turns it into something else
A twisted sort of anger
A cocktail of sadness
And the hurt I’ve stored inside
I couldn’t stop
But even with that
I don’t want to
Because that moment
The moment where I hurt so badly
Is the only time I feel okay
Even if everything doesn't rhyme, it is still beautifully written. Writing a poem is more about expressing yourself. It can have a nice sound when it rhymes, but it isn't always necessary. :-)
